16 Scholarships will be awarded based on audition
4 Soprano: 4 Alto
4 Tenor 4 Bass/baritone
Scholarship/Travel Allowance for 2011-12
€1,250 per annum
To be paid in two instalments September-January (paid in December)
February-June (paid in June)
Commitment:
Scholars will be obliged to attend all rehearsals and all performances as scheduled throughout the year. Scholars will be expected to arrive in good time for pre-performance rehearsals with music fully prepared.
Choir Schedule:
Rehearsals:
Two rehearsals per week: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.45 p.m. – 7.45 p.m. at Aras Treasa, 5 Coppinger Row (off Clarendon Street – near Grafton Street)
Occasional late rehearsals when required.
Occasional extra rehearsals prior to major concerts or trips abroad.
Performances:
Two or three per month at various venues.
Extra performances prior to Christmas and during Holy Week.
(Most performances will take place on Sunday mornings but some e.g. Evensong, Vespers, in the afternoons, occasional evening Masses, Evening Services during Holy Week, Carol concerts etc)
Major Concerts (NCH etc)
Concert Trips outside of Dublin (travel costs will be subsidized)
Trips Abroad (travel costs will be subsidized)
Services/Concerts will include
Regular performances at Latin Mass (St Kevin’s)
Beginning of Term (First Sunday October) and End of Term (Last Sunday June) Masses
Faure/Durufle or Mozart Requiem – usually two performances in November
NCH Concerts and major concerts at other venues (e.g. National Gallery etc.)
Carol concerts/services and Christmas Day
Holy Week Servics and Easter Sunday
Occasional Masses in various parishes
Venues will include
St Kevin’s Harrington Street SCR, Christ Church Cathedral, St Patrick’s Cathedral,
Various Parishes: - Adam & Eve’s, Terenure, University Church, Booterstown, Crumlin, Milltown etc
Various venues in Ireland e.g. September 10th and 11th 2011 Knock and Limerick
Performances abroad e.g. Westminster Cathedral London (October 2011, Paris April 2012)
